In the
Rock in Rio III I watched one of the most amazing concerts ever, Guns N' Roses, a childhood passion live, in front of my eyes,
Welcome to the Jungle,
Sweet Child O' Mine and everything. But at that night, apart from the music being almost identical to what I was used, something was different on the stage. The legendary guitar player Slash and most of the other musicians weren't there. Axl explained:
"I tried to call the others but they said 'thanks but I have more important things to do', so I said FUCK'EM!"
After that he started introducing the other members (I'll never forget that weirdo wearing a mask and a bucket on his head). The first guy Axl introduced was a blonde guitarist, don' remember his name, could be Paul or something, what I remember is what Axl said about him:
"He was already a great fan of the band and today, without this man, there would be no more Guns N' Roses."
I immediately sympathized with him! What an important role! But the fact that this guy was the one, no matter how, responsible for Guns N' Roses existing there in front of me that night wasn't what surprised me most. The word
fan sounded rather unbelievable. Imagine yourself, a musician, fan of one of the greatest rock bands of your generation, being called by the band leader to play with them, to be part of them, that entity you always admired, respected and loved...
Well, today I feel kinda like this blond guy must have felt at Rock in Rio III. Not that I'm going to be a member of something this great, but 20 minutes ago I was officially invited to such a thing, something I only told to my girl that could happen, something I hope will be one of the most important shirts I'll wear in 2006...
[now imagine the end of Back to the Future's music, see that DeLorean flying and exploding on your screen and imagine the sentence bellow in red and yellow right in the center ]TO BE CONTINUED...
