There's one thing I really hate when I'm dating a girl which is having to deal with my desire for other women. Sooner or later, it always comes and when it does I'm already a cheater: if I carry this desire through, I cheat on her; if I don't, I cheat on myself. I'd rather this desire didn't exist, that I find somebody who would make me want only her for me never to have to cheat on anybody!"

Gandalf: "To live is having to constantly deal with desires."

!!: "Will this one always exist?"

Gandalf: "Yes, always, desires are part of the human nature."

!!: "..."

Gandalf: "When you are dating a girl and you feel attracted by another one, what's the reason why you don't carry this desire through?"

!!: "Well... hmmm... because 'it's not nice', 'it's not socially approved'... no! If I don't carry it through it's because somehow I myself don't accept it."

Gandalf: "And you don't accept it for..?"

!!: "For the respect I have for her, for the love I have for her and, even if she never gets to know I cheated on her, this would certainly shake our relationship. This is something I wouldn't want."

Gandalf: "Because this relationship is something important for you..."

!!: "Yes..."

Gandalf: "So taking care of your relationship is another desire of you, isn't it?"

!!: "Yes..."

Gandalf: "...and either way you would have to choose between two of your desires..."

!!: "Yes..."

Gandalf: "...for life is like that, to constantly deal with desires, to weight them and opt for what's really the most important..."
